PORSCHE - German Automotive Manufacturer

PORSCHE is a German automotive manufacturer popular for luxurious automobiles that are popular for their high performance. The headquarters of PORSCHE SE is Zuffenhausen, Stuttgard, Baden Wurttemberg. There are two subsidiaries for PORSCHE called Porsche AG and Volkswagen AG. Porsche AG is responsible for manufacturing Porsche automobile line while Volkswagen AG is parent company of the top tire Volkswagen group of automobile marques.

Professor Ferdinand Porsche is the man behind Porsche company. It was first formed as Dr. Ing. H. c. F. Porsche GmbH in 1930. The first car manufacturing assignment for Porsche was from German government which wanted the company to design a car for people. This was called Volkswagen and it had a raving success in Germany. Later in 1939, Porsche introduced the first Porsche line car called Porsche 64.

Volkswagen line of cars was developed for military purposes during World War II. At the end of the way in 1945, British army major Ivan Hirst became in charge of Volkswagen as the factory fell to British and Ferdinand was arrested. Ferdinand Porsche's son later started building his own car because he was not satisfied with the available cars.

The days were difficult for junior Porsche until 1947 after which he developed a prototype of 356 model and started production with some German pre orders. The logo of Porsche company was designed based on coat of arms of Free people's state of Wurttemberg.

Later, Porsche 550 Spyder became popular and then Porsche 911 was launched which made Porsche rise back to fame. In 1972, the company was made a public limited company.
